Leeum Museum of Art present VOICES, the first solo exhibition of the internationally renowned French artist Philippe Parreno to be held in Korea. As the largest survey of the artist in Asia to date, the exhibition provides a comprehensive experience of Parreno's oeuvre from the 1990s to the present. Featuring the most representative pieces from his career as well as new works, the exhibition showcase approximately 40 works, including his latest mechanical creation, Membrane (2024), and his debut video work, Fleurs (1987).

Make a Wish
Make a Wish POSETER

This exhibition focuses on what we have lost and need to reclaim in an era of lightness. It features eight artists who act as “guides,” introducing new stories and wisdom across two parts. Presented as a “spiritual journey,” the exhibition aims to illustrate the belief that, despite life’s fleeting nature, humans can uphold dignity and inward freedom.

Seoul Youth and Popular Music

The Seoul Urban Life Museum, dedicated to showcasing the daily lives of ordinary Seoulites, presents an exhibition on songs popularized by youth who shaped contemporary culture in the context of the places where these songs were enjoyed. From the cafés in Jongno in the 1930s, music listening rooms in Myeongdong in the 1950s, and live cafés in Sinchon in the 1980s to the clubs around Hongik University in the 1990s and online spaces in the 2000s, visitors can experience the music beloved by the youth of each era and immerse themselves in the romantic and emotional ambiance of times gone by.

This exhibition sheds light on the urban surroundings of Korea in the 1980s, a period marked by a new phase of urbanization following the high-speed economic growth of the 1960s and 1970s. 80 Urban Reality features the GanaArt Collection and other artworks collected by the Seoul Museum of Art, encompassing works from the Minjung Art movement and realism pieces that vigorously reflect the social reality of Korea in the 1980s and 1990s.

Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN)

The 28th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival, Asia’s premier event in the fantastic film genre, is set to unfold across various venues in Bucheon from July 4 to 14. Pairing the festival’s distinctive slogan, “Stay Strange,” with the artificial intelligence (AI) trend, it will introduce Korea’s first-ever international competition section dedicated to AI-generated films. This initiative aims to showcase the cinematic potential of AI and its impact on the world of filmmaking.

Choreographer and dancer Ahn Eun-me, lauded for her exploration of historical eras and human experiences, presentsYojaya Yojaya, a production by the Korea National Contemporary Dance Company. The performance delves into the experiences of pioneering “new women” of Korea’s modern and contemporary era, who struggled to lead their own lives. A blend of dance movements, accessories and costumes, as well as contemporary buzzwords and neologisms will present a vivid portrayal of their frustrations and aspirations.

Sync Next

The Sejong Center’s Sync Next is among the trendiest art experiences offered each summer. Global Webtoon Festival

The inaugural Global Webtoon Festival will aim to solidify Korea’s stature as leader in the webtoon field.
