2022 KF Fellowship for Public Officers
On October 4, the KF began its annual Fellowship for Public Officers program for 23 public
officials from India and six ASEAN countries: Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the
Philippines, and Vietnam. While in Korea, the participants will study the Korean language
and have diverse in-person experiences of Korean culture.
Fellowship for Public Officers, which was launched in 2019 to develop Korea specialists
abroad, is hosted this year by Soon Chun Hyang University’s Korean Language School. In
addition to learning Korean, participants will attend classes on Korean society and
politics.
They will also take field trips to locations in Seoul, Busan, Jeonju, and Yeosu to
experience Taekwondo and samulnori (traditional percussion quartet) and view sites of
historical and cultural importance.
The purpose of the fellowship is to help participants gain a comprehensive understanding
of Korea and be able to function in their home countries as Korea-friendly experts.
