This past October, the eighth installment of the Easy Access Series, Easy Access Singapore, was held at the ASEAN Culture House. Prof. Jae-hyeok Shin of Korea University and Dr. Si-yeon Lim of the Korean National Commission for UNESCO gave overview lectures on the country of Singapore on October 11 and 18. Meanwhile, the third and fourth Saturdays of the month saw the opening of a clay art workshop crafting Singaporean landmarks, in addition to a traditional cooking class featuring the dishes laksa and kaya toast. On Sunday, there were two films screened to the public: 3688 (2015), headed by renowned Singaporean movie director, Royston Tan, and 7 Letters (2015), involving the collaborative direction of seven of Singapore’s top director sin commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Singapore’s independence. Easy Access Singapore rewarded visitors with a multi-faceted Singaporean cultural experience, as well as providing a platform to promote further understanding of the country.
