Mandy’s Five Reasons for Going to the Ganghwa-do Mud Festival
In June, Mandy Ho accompanied the KFVN’s Korean Culture Class Team on her first visit to the Ganghwa-do Mud Festival. Accompanied by four of her friends, Mandy couldn’t stop smiling the entire time. Let’s find out more about the first mud festival experience for Mandy, who lives by the motto: “Simplicity is the key to happiness.”
KFVN: What were your most memorable or enjoyable moments of today?
Mandy (laughing): When I was completely covered from head to toe in mud, and my hair was really heavy, but nobody would help me! That’s actually how everyone else was. It was really fun!
KFVN: Did you know anything about the mud festival beforehand?
Mandy: I’ve heard that the mud is good for your skin.
KFVN: How were the members of the Korean Culture Class Team?
Mandy: I couldn’t believe how friendly everyone was. People from all over the world cover themselves in mud, so I played like I was a kid at Ganghwa-do. It felt like going back to my childhood. Everyone gets fatigued from work and school, so we all need to balance work and play. That’s why today’s event was so much fun. I also got to enjoy nature.
KFVN: What was the festival’s general atmosphere like?
Mandy: It was incredible. People from all different nationalities and backgrounds came together. The mud and facilities were clean, and everything seemed well prepared and organized.
KFVN: Anything else you’d like to mention?
Mandy: I like how affordable everything was. Especially considering that the fee included festival admissions as well as food and bus tickets. I think it’s all thanks to the fastidious preparations by the Korean Culture Class Team. July’s event is rafting, right?
