[Review] Korean Literature Workshop for Overseas Doctoral Students
On the occasion of the Korea Foundation’s 25th anniversary this year, the KF conducted the first-ever Korean Literature Workshop for Overseas Doctoral Students, on July 5–10, 2016, for the purpose of encouraging further research on Korean literature and fostering next-generation scholars of Korean literature. The workshop participants included 23 doctoral students of Korean literature enrolled at 11 prominent universities around the world.
During the workshop, the participants learned about the trends of research on Korean literature in various regions from the presentations made by distinguished literary scholars from Korea and abroad. After the presentation sessions, each of the doctoral students shared the contents of their research activities and dissertation papers, and then received feedback from the workshop advisers on the methodology and related matters that might help to enhance the quality of their final papers.
The group also went on field trips to the Yun Dong-ju Literature House, Toji Cultural Centre, and Kim You-jeong House of Literature, so that they could learn more about Korean literature through personal experiences.
