ASEAN Music Meets Korean Instruments: ASEAN x SINAWI

Every Wednesday in the month of March, the KF’s ASEAN Culture House will present an online concert series combining the traditional music of Korea and the ten ASEAN member countries. “ASEAN Music Meets Korean Instruments: ASEAN x SINAWI” will go online beginning March 3, and the concert will remain free to watch for two years.

The performance is an online performance that features well-known traditional and folk music of the ten ASEAN member states arranged in a traditional Korean music Style. Designed to reinforce the exchange of performing arts between Korea and the ASEAN region, which has faced obstacles posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the concert hopes to deliver a message of consolation, solidarity, and hope to the people of ASEAN and Korea through the familiar and warm sounds of music.

The concert features the Gyeonggi Sinawi Orchestra, led by artistic director Won Il. The orchestra, which boasts recognized composers and members who are noted for their impressive arrangements, embodies the harmonious, carefree spirit of the traditional Korean music known as sinawi.

This special show of extraordinary Korea-ASEAN unity can be viewed on the ASEAN Culture House YouTube channel and Naver TV.
