2020 New Year’s Forum: K-Pop and Innovation
On January 14, the KF will hold the 2020 New Year’s Seminar: K-Pop and Innovation at the Plaza Hotel Seoul in a joint effort with the Success Economy Institute and the Korea Economic Daily. K-pop artists have topped the Billboard music charts twice; the genre’s potential is drawing worldwide attention as it creates new competitive advantages in the fields of innovation and international exchange.
The seminar will hear keynote speeches from KF President Lee Geun; Lee Jang-woo, Kyungpook National University Professor and Chairman of the Success Economy Institute; and Lee Soo-man, Chairman of SM Entertainment. The speakers will look into the global influence of Hallyu, the Korean Wave, as led by K-pop and will suggest new methods of public diplomacy that combine traditional and contemporary Korean culture.
The KF expects the year-opening seminar will serve as an important step in promoting cooperation and networking among related organizations and in seeking effective strategies for cultural public diplomacy.
