Bazaar Mekong Introduces Handicrafts and Design Goods from the Five Mekong River Countries
In commemoration of the first Korea-Mekong Summit slated for November 27, the KF’s ASEAN Culture House in Busan will host a special bazaar-style event featuring handicrafts and design goods of the five countries in the Mekong River region.
Aptly named Bazaar Mekong: Handicrafts and Design Goods, the small fair will give visitors a chance to browse and buy handmade goods from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. Items will include dyed silk, lacquerware, ceramics, rattan and bamboo fashion accessories, home decorations, and kitchenware, all supplied by local businesses in the five participating countries.
In addition to taking in these items showcasing the beauty of Mekong crafts, attendees to the bazaar can also participate in experience programs provided by each country. Stories explaining the sociocultural values embodied in the creation and circulation of the craftworks on display will also be shared.
We hope to see you at Bazaar Mekong, an exhibition of the traditions of the Mekong River countries and current trends in handcraft design.
