Sihyung Lee Inaugurated as
the 12th Korea Foundation President
On May 13, Sihyung Lee officially assumed office as the KF’s 12th President at an inauguration ceremony held at the Diplomatic Center in Seocho-gu, Seoul, which included the presence of more than 100 Korea Foundation staff members.
“While respecting the experience and expertise of a public diplomacy institution that now celebrates 25 years of service, I will work to launch highly creative and differentiated projects that address the changing demands of our modern times,” stated President Lee as part of his inaugural remarks. Regarding the administrative direction of the KF’s key missions and efforts, he stressed “moderation and applicability,” along with pledging to “pay careful attention to the voices of KF employees and outside experts, so as to preserve the KF’s remarkable traditions, in addition to creatively and boldly implementing reforms as needed.”
A veteran diplomat, President Lee first joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1980, and has since served as Korea’s Ambassador to Poland, Deputy Minister for Trade, and Ambassador to the OECD. He looks forward to contributing much to the further expansion of Korea’s public diplomacy and bolstering the KF’s international presence.
