Soup Kitchen Volunteering at Thomas Homeless Shelter

On a fragrant, fresh Saturday in April, the Education and Publicity Team visited the Thomas Homeless Shelter near Yeongdeungpo Subway Station in Seoul to help distribute free food. The team has volunteered to help the Thomas Homeless Shelter deliver food to people in the area for the past two years, while promoting public understanding of the KF Volunteer Network (KFVN). The team regularly conducts orientations for newcomers to KFVN and sends out information about its activities through its newsletter.
The Thomas Homeless Shelter offers free lunches to senior citizens and other residents in the Yeongdeungpo area. On this particular Saturday, the team helped the Thomas Homeless Shelter serve food to over 390 people while also washing dishes and cleaning up after lunch. While working at the Thomas Homeless Shelter, the team members found great pleasure in serving their many visitors, while also having the opportunity to reflect upon the quality of their own service.
The team plans to visit the Thomas Homeless Shelter again in the latter half of this year and looks forward to further support and encouragement.
