New Message from the Netherlands: Recent Dutch Architecture and Design

New Messages from the Netherlands is an exhibition introducing visitors to architecture and design from the Netherlands that have attracted global attention and examining the underlying design methodology. Rather than merely offering visitors a lineup of eye-grabbing pieces, this exhibition aims to explore the new values that Dutch design is communicating to the world by analyzing their sociocultural background.

The exhibition is divided into five sections. RE:USE, focusing on architecture, examines works which added more spaces to existing architectural structures and rendered new possibilities. RE:MIND, concentrating on design, offers new ideas and methods through observation of human behavior. RE:SEARCH is made up of infographics that provide a visual representation of data dealing with the entirety of culture and society in the Netherlands today. In addition to these, the exhibition also includes RE:NEW, an experience-based program in which visitors can collect and assemble typography works in the form of postcards dealing with the content of the exhibition to a new message, and RE:MARK, where visitors are given the opportunity to view a variety of books on the topic, including the past 20 years of architecture yearbooks from the Netherlands Architecture Institute, and fi nd pieces that were not directly included in the exhibition.

By shedding light on a different side of recent architecture and design in the Netherlands, it is hoped that this exhibition will give visitors a chance to take home a message that is personally meaningful
