[Notice] Inauguration of the 9th President of the Korea Foundation

Dr Byung-kook Kim was inaugurated as the 9th President of the Korea Foundation in a ceremony held at the headquarters of the Korea Foundation, Diplomatic Center, Seoul, on June 14, 2010.
 
Possessing an in-depth understanding of international issues and having served as President Lee Myung Bak’s first Senior Secretary for Foreign Policy and National Security, Dr. Kim will be leading the Korea Foundation for the next three years.
 
After graduating at Harvard University with a Ph.D. degree in Political Science in 1988, he served on the Editorial Board of Hankukilbo (1994-1995) newspaper in Seoul and on the Presidential Commission on Policy Planning (1994-1998). He then lectured at John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University (2003) as the Ralph I. Straus Visiting Professor.
 
More recently, he directed the East Asia Institute, an independent private non-profit think tank based in Seoul, and also the Institute for Peace Studies at Korea University. He served on the editorial board of Journal of East Asian Studies and International Political Science Review, and was a member of the Executive Committee of the International Political Science Association from 2006 to2009.
