Establishment

  • Background

    The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea initiated the founding of ASEAN Culture House as a follow-up measure to the ASEAN-ROK Commemorative Summit of December 2014, The Korea Foundation is currently in change of its operation.

    162, Jwadong-ro, Haeundae-gu, Busan 48108, Republic of Korea
    Four floors above ground and two underground / Total floor area: 6,524.78㎡

    Exhibition Galleries, Auditorium, Library, Seminar Rooms, Cooking Studio, VR Zone, etc.

    • Making ASEAN properly Known to Korean citizens
    • Enhancing the pride of ASEAN nationals currently residing in Korea
    • Revitalizing ASEAN-Korea cultural and academic networks
    • Serving as a meeting place and cultural center on behalf of ASEAN diplomatic missions in Korea
    • Promoting cooperation in ASEAN-related public diplomacy activities between central and local governments

  • 10Opened the second permanent exhibition, ASEAN Storyteller: Spiritual Beliefs, Arts & Life
  • 03ACH registered as specialized museum type 1 under the name of ASEAN Culture Museum
    Held online performance series, ASEAN Music Meets Korean Instruments: ASEAN X SINAWI
2020
  • 10Launched the ASEAN-Korea Craft Market (a.k.a. ASEAN Market)
  • 06Launched the online exhibition service on the ACH website
  • 02Inauguration of the second Director-General, Park Mi-sook
2019
  • 11Held the first Korea-Mekong Summit banquet titled, A Path to the Mekong
    Convened the ASEAN-ROK Commemorative Summit titled, Diplomatic Gifts from ASEAN
    Began holding the annual ASEAN Cinema Week
    Arranged the open market, Mekong Bazaar: Handicraft and Design Goods in honor of the first Mekong-ROK Summit
  • 10Presented the special exhibition, Splash ASEAN! – Water, a Celebration of Life on occasion of the 30th anniversary of ASEAN-ROK Dialogue Relations
    Organized the ASEAN Cultural Roadshow–Viva ASEAN in celebration of the 2019 ASEAN-ROK Commemorative Summit
    Hosted the first Korea-Indonesia Young Leaders’ Dialogue in Jakarta, Indonesia
  • 09Organized the Philippine Film Festival in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Philippines-ROK relations
  • 08Hosted the nine-day ASEAN Youth Leader Program in Busan, South Kor
  • 07Convened the ACH Special Gathering with ASEAN Ambassadors, bringing together representatives from ten ASEAN countries
2018
  • 12Presented Out of Place, a KF special exhibition commemorating the 60th anniversary of ROK-Thailand diplomatic relations
  • 11Organized the Easy Access Thailand series & Thai Festival in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of Korea-Thailand diplomatic relations
    Presented the special exhibition, Colors of Asia, Revisited – The Case of ASEAN and Korea in celebration of the ACH’s first anniversary and opening
    Launched the ASEAN Practical Language Course series, I can speak ASEAN
  • 09Held the ASEAN Culture House First Anniversary Ceremony
  • 04Hosted a concert honoring the 60th anniversary of Korea-Thailand diplomatic relations and introduced next-generation pianist Poom Prommachart
  • 03Launched the Easy Access ASEAN program to provide residents with ASEAN-themed cultural experience activities.
2017
  • 12Held a recital of Korean and ASEAN traditional orchestra to celebrate the establishment of the ASEAN Culture House
    Presented Salt of the Jungle, a KF special exhibition commemorating the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relation between Korea and Viet Nam
  • 11Launched the ASEAN Cooking Class for Family and Friends program
  • 09Official establishment of the ASEAN Culture House
    Inauguration of the first Director-General, Ham Seung-Hoon
    Hosted a special inaugural exhibition, Celebrating the Beauty of Marriage – ASEAN Seen through Wedding Traditions and Cultures
    Opened the first permanent exhibition, ASEAN Ways of Life – Its Diversity and Unity
  • 08Launched the opening ceremony of the ASEAN-Korea Futurist program (AKF), providing cultural exchange between ASEAN students and Korean youth
